St. Augustine Airport (formerly known as Northeast Florida Regional Airport) is one of the largest business assets in St. Johns County.
Just recently, a hanger expansion project took place which generated over 250 jobs from a $2.1 million investment.
With the existing mix of private, military, and commercial aviation, we have a great opportunity to create not only temporary jobs, but long-term economic growth.
On the Airport Authority, I am committed to building a pro-business environment that attracts investment.
With only an estimated 18-22% of property tax revenue coming from commercial and industrial properties, the county has a weak prone-to-fluctuation tax base as a result of residential dominance.
This is where the St. Augustine Airport can make a large impact: composite manufacturing, breakthrough Advanced Air Mobility aircraft, and increased usage.
With an 8,000-foot runway, St. Augustine is accommodating to large aircraft, creating ample opportunity for expansion of maintenance centers, cargo, and defense and avionic companies, such as existing business partner Northrop Grumman.
Just miles away, St. Augustine High School has an Aviation & Aerospace Academy, along with a dual enrollment program by Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. As an alumni of these programs, and former board member of the St. Johns County School District's Academy of Aviation & Aerospace Advisory Board, I understand the importance of educational partnerships. These students are ideal employees for the incoming job growth.
Aviation-related jobs are strong and secure as they take skilled employees which are not easily outsourced.

I proudly stand by the current board and applaud their successful efforts to keep 0 millage. This protects the affordability of homes.
Rather than increasing taxes on St. Johns County residents already suffering from rising costs, I will work with the board to acquire business investment, along with state and federal grants.
In order to receive these grants, you need a representative on the board who has nurtured valuable relationships with both elected officials and transportation leaders.
In my roles leading political organizations and a non-profit (See "About"), I have built strong rapport with our advocates, ranging from the county level, to state and national.
Not only do I have the aviation background to understand the needs of our airport, but I have the political know-how to get it.
I will use the growing Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) sector to increase investment.
St. Augustine Airport should be able to suffice without raising your property tax.

Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) is the latest technological breakthrough in aviation. Both the Florida Department of Transportation and Governor Ron DeSantis have led the initiative to place Florida as a national leader in this emerging sector.
Many of these aircraft are hybrid or electric and require modern infrastructure. By incorporating this emerging technology in the Airport Authority's expansion conversations, we set ourselves up for business investment, along with major state and federal grants.
Managed properly, these funds can be used to improve the airport's infrastructure and community value. This technology creates new jobs, in St. Johns County, including pilots, managers, and technicians.
For example, AAM aircraft are ideal for air taxis and emergency rescue, helping reduce traffic on the roads. Rather than driving to Orlando or Jacksonville for your flight, our community will be able to take an AAM aircraft and skip the line. Additionally, AAM aircraft are estimated to have a cost of $13 to fly, significantly reducing the cost for life-flights and keeping more money in your wallet in the case of tragedy .
